  • Since 2004
  • 40,000+ customers
  • 400+ SWMS across 30 trades and industries

How it works

From library to signed, in four steps.

Explore the template library

Browse and preview all 400+ SWMS. No account needed.

Key features

Templates

400+ SWMS written by safety experts, plus the SOPs, plans and policies that go with them.

  • Search by trade or task; filter by industry and type.
  • Preview any template before you use it.
  • Template credits every month on paid plans, or buy one when you need it.
  • SOPs, management plans, policies, value packs and systems too.

Explore the template library

The Templates screen. The filter is set to Electrical, the grid shows electrical SWMS with their store photos, and Switchboard Installation has just been added, using one of this month's template credits.

Key features

Documents

Edit any SWMS like a normal document, on a computer or your phone. No Word.

  • Smart fields fill in the job, client and site.
  • Your logo on every page, set once.
  • Every change is a new version, so you know which one was signed.
  • An A4 page on a computer, one clean column on a phone.
The document editor in front of the Documents page: the Height Access Equipment SWMS on an A4 page, with the job, client and site filled in by smart fields, a control measure just retyped, and the change saved as version 1.4.

Key features

Jobs

Everything the site needs in one place: SWMS, site plans, drawings and any other document.

  • Add a document and it fills in with the job's details.
  • Each job gets its own copy. Your originals stay as they are.
  • Your crew gets in by QR code or invite.
  • Other companies on the job add their own documents, and keep them when it ends.
The job Newstead Gasworks Refurbishment, with its documents. The Height Access Equipment SWMS has just been added from Documents and filled in with the job's name, client and site. A notification shows that Rosa Delgado from Coastline Plumbing added the Plumbing Gas Fitting SWMS, and it now sits in the job's documents marked Coastline Plumbing.

Key features

Sign-on

Workers open the job from a text, an email or the QR code on the gate, and sign with a finger.

  • Nothing to download, no account to make.
  • We never charge anyone to view or sign.
  • Print the QR code for the gate, or the SWMS for a paper sign-on.
  • Each signature is tied to the version they read.
Three ways in, a text message, an email and a QR code poster on the site gate, lead to one phone, where a worker has signed the Height Access Equipment SWMS. Beside it, a printed sign-on sheet with its own QR code.

Key features

Feedback

Workers flag problems in the SWMS from their phone, and the whole job talks in one place.

  • Raise an issue on any step of a SWMS, with a photo.
  • You see it straight away, fix the document and everyone gets the update.
  • Job chat keeps site updates, photos and questions with the job.
  • Every issue, message and fix stays on the job's record.
On her phone, Bec Whitlock raises an issue on step 2 of the Height Access Equipment SWMS: No harness anchor on the level 2 edge, with a photo. In the job's Activity tab, Daniel Nguyen sees the issue, replies in the job chat that the anchors go in at 10am, and updates the SWMS. The record reads: Height Access Equipment SWMS updated to v1.4, 6 crew asked to sign again.

Key features

Contacts

Your team and subbies in one address book, sorted into groups.

  • Add a whole group to a job at once.
  • Import the worker list a subbie sends you.
  • Share or export crew details when a builder asks.
  • Invite by email or text from your contacts.
The Contacts table with the Groups pane. Four people imported from crew-list.csv, Coastline Plumbing's crew, are selected, and the selection bar has added them to the Newstead Gasworks Refurbishment job.

Key features

Approvals

Send a SWMS to any builder or principal contractor for approval, even if they don't use SafetyDocs.

  • They comment and approve from a link. No account needed.
  • Make the fix and send the update in minutes.
  • A record of who approved which version, and when.
  • You keep the master copy and its history.
Two windows. In yours, the Height Access Equipment SWMS sent for review to Priya Nair at Harbourline Constructions. In hers, a plain browser window marked No account needed, she commented on the Falling objects row, the fix arrived as version 1.3, and she approved it. A record card reads: Approved by Priya Nair, Harbourline Constructions, v1.3, 21 Nov 2026, 6:42am.

Key features

Credentials

Every ticket, licence and insurance for the job in one place, uploaded by the people who hold them.

  • Crew upload from their phone. No account needed.
  • Tick who needs what, and they're asked by email or text.
  • Expiry dates tracked, with a heads-up before anything runs out.
  • A SWMS can ask for a licence photo at sign-on.
The Credentials table for Newstead Gasworks Refurbishment, a row per worker and a column per credential, beside Liam Fitzgerald's phone. Harbourline Constructions has asked him for his Work safely at heights ticket. He photographs the front and back, adds the expiry date and uploads it, and his cell in the table turns from Missing to To 14 Mar 27. An alert reads: Connor Walsh's ticket expires in 6 days.

Key features

Permits

Permits to work for hot work, confined spaces and heights, filled in, approved and signed on to from the job.

  • Start from a hot work, confined space or work at height permit.
  • A bar under the permit shows each person what's left, and takes them to it.
  • Nobody signs on until it's approved.
  • Every answer is kept, with who gave it and when.
The Hot work permit PTW-0041 for Mezzanine C4–C6, waiting for approval, with a bar along its foot showing 0 of 2 for you and Next: Fire watch. Priya Nair names Sam Okafor as the fire watch and marks the gas test clear, the bar reads 2 of 2, she approves it and it turns Active. On his phone, Liam Fitzgerald answers the crew question and signs on, and the bar shows 1 signed on.

Compare

Write it, tailor it and get it signed, in one place.

Many SWMS are still Word files that get printed or emailed. Plenty of SWMS apps help you get a file signed, but you still write and fix it somewhere else. SafetyDocs does both.

For big jobs

Running the big jobs with multiple subbies?

Book a demo

SafetyDocs is built for big jobs where many companies work together. Each subbie keeps their own documents, you see every SWMS and sign-on in one place, and nobody is forced onto another platform. Let us show you how the big jobs spend less time on paperwork and more time getting the work done.

The Jobs page in SafetyDocs: Newstead Gasworks, Parramatta Substation and Fitzroy Street, each with its compliance ring and its crew, documents and activity. New lines arrive in the activity feed from each company on the jobs, the rings change as people sign or a SWMS is updated, and Newstead Gasworks shows who has signed, company by company.

Everyone on the job works together, whatever plan they're on.

Subbies never pay to join a job, read the SWMS or sign. Their documents stay theirs, from one job to the next.

On a builder's job
Subbies on any plan, Free included, join the job and sign. On Bronze they add their own SWMS for the builder to review.
On a principal contractor's job
On Gold, the contractor gives subbies a subbie pass, at the contractor's cost. Subbies run their part of the job and add their own SWMS, then keep their account and documents when it ends.
A job shared by three companies on different plans. The builder comments on the subbie's SWMS, the subbie updates it, and the builder sees the change.
