Emergency Response Plan

Prepare and protect your business in any crisis with an Emergency Response Plan that makes sure your workers know exactly what to do in an emergency, meeting your legal and ethical duty to provide a safe workplace.

It sets out the emergency planning committee and emergency control organisation, the evacuation plan, emergency contacts and personnel, and step-by-step responses to medical emergencies, electric shock, fire, hazardous substance spills, threatening and violent situations and bomb threats.

Registers and checklists put it into practice: emergency training, first aid workers, emergency response drills, hazardous substances and their safety equipment, a template for new procedures and Safe Work Australia's emergency plan checklist.

It is part of the Health and Safety Manual, whose documents refer to each other.

Introduction

Company has developed this plan to ensure emergency preparedness is appropriate, monitored and tested at all our locations.

This Emergency Response Plan (ERP) will guide the emergency response of all staff and applicable resources during an emergency. It is expected that all persons read and understand this ERP before starting work. All relevant persons are expected to adhere to the contents of the ERP.

Definitions

  • Emergency: Any unplanned event requiring immediate response to protect people, property, or the environment.

  • EPC: Emergency Planning Committee, responsible for ERP development and review.

  • ECO: Emergency Control Organisation, responsible for operational emergency response.

Review procedure

The Managing Directors will review the ERP as required. The review schedule will be directed in response to organisational and/or legislative changes and requirements.

The reviews will be undertaken in consultation with workers, health and safety representatives (HSR) and other relevant parties. All relevant persons will be made aware of changes made as a result of the review. This ERP will be reviewed whenever:

  • Controls are no longer effective.

  • Changes on site are likely to introduce new or different hazards that current controls will not adequately address.

  • A new hazard or risk is identified.

  • Results of consultation indicate a review is needed.

  • Where requested by workers or HSR.
