First Aid Policy

Providing a prompt, coordinated first aid response is critical to the health and safety of your workers, and everyone needs to know what to do in an emergency. This First Aid Policy prepares your workplace to respond promptly and effectively to any injury or illness.

It sets out how you assess your first aid needs, the kits, facilities and trained First Aid Officers you provide, what management and first aiders are responsible for, and a signed approval by your Director or Business Owner.

A First Aid Worker Register records who looks after the kits and each First Aid Officer's qualifications, and an Injuries and Illness Register logs every incident for follow-up. A review procedure, definitions and document control registers keep the policy current, and it lists the health and safety laws and first aid codes of practice for the Commonwealth and each state and territory, plus New Zealand's Act and Regulations, for you to narrow to where you work.
