How to control slips, trips and falls
- Keep walkways and work areas clear of materials, offcuts, hoses and leads, using cable hangers where possible.
- Fix or mark uneven ground, holes and changes in level, and provide good lighting along access routes.
- Clean up spills straight away, and use slip-resistant surfaces or mats in areas that are often wet.
- Do housekeeping throughout the shift rather than leaving it until the end of the day.
- Wear slip-resistant footwear suited to the surfaces and conditions on site.
Typical controls, most effective first. Your SWMS sets the controls for your own job and site.
