Workplace Safety Rules

The Workplace Safety Rules set out what every worker and visitor must do at your workplace, as short lists of rules under 18 topics: induction, traffic management, supervision, worker responsibilities, mobile phones, housekeeping, PPE and sun protection, SWMS, smoking, amenities, electrical safety, plant and equipment, drugs and alcohol, hazardous substances, public safety, security, falls, and purchasing and delivery.

Most topics end with an "Other?" line for your own rules. What only you can fill in, such as the workplace speed limit and where the smoking stations and amenities are, is highlighted.

It is part of the Health and Safety Manual, whose documents refer to each other.

Induction

  • All workers/visitors must receive a workplace-specific induction.

Traffic management plan (TMP)

  • Communicate the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) for the workplace to all workers and visitors.

  • Controls in the TMP must be suitable for the conditions of the workplace and followed by all persons.

  • Speeds of vehicles must be suited to the workplace conditions and as per the limits set out in the TMP. The maximum speed limit on workplace is insert speed here km/h in good conditions.

  • Pedestrians must not enter exclusion zones as marked on TMP.

Supervision

  • All workers must have adequate supervision.

  • Decide supervision levels on the risk level of task and experience of workers.

  • Visitors will be always accompanied by a workplace representative while on-workplace.

Worker responsibilities

  • All persons on workplace must treat each other professionally.

  • Discrimination, under Equal Employment Policies, will not be tolerated at this workplace.

  • Workplace bullying and/or violence or practical jokes will not be tolerated at this workplace.

  • Workers must take reasonable care of their health and safety and ensure that their actions (or inactions) do not put others at risk.
