The Reasonable Suspicion Procedure sets out, step by step, how to approach a worker who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol: who approaches them, in a private location, with care in case they are ill, injured or taking prescribed medication, and with the worker allowed to explain the observed behaviour.
Where Reasonable Suspicion is confirmed, the worker leaves the workplace with arrangements to get them to their accommodation safely. It covers what happens when drug or alcohol testing is not carried out, testing by a medical professional following AS 4308, and keeping health and medical information confidential.
It is part of the Health and Safety Manual, whose documents refer to each other.
